When Brittny Millington won first place for her original play "The Crown of Lomiria" earlier this year, she was really excited. When she was asked to direct her play, she was ecstatic!

Brittny's play won first place in a script writing contest sponsored by West Jordan Arts Council in 2008. While this will be her first time directing, Brittny has experience performing, working sound crew, and costume design from previous productions. Brittny’s mother, Lara Millington, recalls how she was always directing the neighborhood kids and siblings in her made-up plays as a child. "This opportunity is a kid’s dream come true," says Millington.

"The Crown of Lomiria" will take families to another land where the main characters (played by Joel Hansen, Audrey Madsen and Nathan Davis) must decipher clues left by their parents (played by Miranda Rendell and Adam O’Reilly) while dodging the evil king Rogner (played by CJ Madsen). With some help from the wacky wizard (played by Griffin Bolton) and many beautiful mermaids, the youth are on a quest to find their parents and the rightful bearer of the crown of Lomiria.

Dates for The Crown of Lomiria are October 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 26th at 7:30 p.m. at the Sugar Factory Playhouse, 8201 South 2200 West, in West Jordan.

Tickets are available at Macey’s food stores in West Jordan and at the door before the show: $3 for 12 & under, $5 Adults, $3 seniors. All proceeds benefit West Jordan Youth Theatre.
